Our Story

HomeAbout

Marly Building Supply began in the year 2000. “Marly” means “horse power” in Chinese; the character “Ma” is our founder's surname.

Marly started as a small storefront at 858 Meeker Avenue — still home today, now spanning nearly two blocks of Meeker Avenue. In 2004, our sister company, Marly Building Materials in Lindenhurst, NY, began operations as one of only a handful of CMU manufacturers serving the five boroughs and Long Island. We added metal studs and tracks in 2006, wire lath in 2014, and truss mesh in 2015; new machinery that year tripled our CMU capacity.

During that expansion, our main storefront suffered a devastating five-alarm fire. Rather than break our spirit, the challenge steeled our resolve. We opened a temporary storefront across the street at 857 Meeker Avenue and, with our vendors' help, replenished most of our inventory almost immediately — then fully rebuilt and returned to 858 Meeker Avenue.

Today, with a specialty in masonry material, Marly is one of the largest distributors of face brick in New York City.
